DON'T DUMP IT! DONATE IT TO P.A.N.D.O.R.A.!

SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT!

P.A.N.D.O.R.A. is going "Green"! Did you ever wonder what to do with your old cell phones? How about your ink toners and ink cartridges? It is easy now! Simply donate them to P.A.N.D.O.R.A. and we through the assistance of Dade Recycling, Miami, Florida, will participate in a fundraiser recycling program that will benefit our environment by reducing some of the excessive and toxic waste found in our landfills.

With your donated items, you will help us to raise some "green" - some small chunk - to cover some of our operating expenses. It is indeed a very "green" and smart way to get rid of these items, benefit P.A.N.D.O.R.A., and our community as well as protecting our health and our planet.

September 5, 2007

Speakers: Special Volunteers from AARP- Henry and Joyce Salomon

Topic: AARP’s nationwide Divided We Fail effort.

Divided We Fail was launched to raise the voices of millions of Americans who believe healthcare and long-term financial security are two of our nation’s most pressing issues. With the 2008 elections drawing closer every day, we are in a prime position to demand action, answers and accountability from all candidates. Join P.A.N.D.O.R.A. and AARP to discover how to join the movement and why you should share your story today.

What is Divided We Fail?

Too many Americans worry that they are just one major illness or injury away from financial ruin due to the skyrocketing costs of the current health care system. As a result of exorbitant costs, forty-six million Americans are uninsured and twenty-nine percent report that they have skipped treatment, tests or prescriptions because of the associated costs.

America’s long-term financial security system is eroding. Traditional pension plans are disappearing, saving has become more difficult, and Social Security’s long-term solvency requires adjustments.

The time for action is now – stand up, demand action, and let your voice be heard.

AARP has joined with others across the political spectrum to launch “Divided We Fail,” a nationwide movement to raise the voices of millions of Americans who believe health care and long-term financial security are two of our nation’s most pressing domestic issues.

With the 2008 election rapidly approaching, we are in a key position to demand action, answers and accountability from all candidates. These issues are not Republican or Democratic – they are American issues. We have the right to demand that our candidates address these critical issues facing our families, and when elected, keep their campaign promises –  if they don’t, we have the right to hold them accountable.

Your stories about health care, financial security and other issues help to build our case. Join the movement and share your story at www.dividedwefail.org where you can also sign up to be a Divided We Fail Voter.

To help answer questions about AARP’s Divided We Fail effort and how you can become a key player, AARP Florida volunteer speaker’s Henry & Joyce Salomon will be making a presentation at the next CFS/FM Empowerment Group at Temple Sholom meeting on September 5, 2007 at 2:30 pm at Temple Sholom, 132 SE 11th Avenue, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. Be sure to attend!

To schedule a speaker, or to find out if there is a public session in your area, call the AARP Florida State Office at 1-866-595-7678 or visit the AARP Florida Web site at www.aarp.org/fl. If you can not attend a presentation, go online to http://www.aarp.org/learntech/personal_finance/identity_theft_intro.html/ for more information.

Time: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm

The CFS May 2, 2007 Awareness Event coincided with the regular date for the CFS/FM Empowerment Group Meetings at Temple Sholom. Consequently, he time of the meeting was changed to the evening in order to bring you Dr. Tara Solomon,  a specialist in women's health, ( her primary expertise are in obstetrics and gynecology). Her additional medical interests have taken her into the field of bioidentical hormones replacement therapy and adrenal support for women and men too. She also amazed us all when she spoke Spanish fluently to some of our Hispanic members.

The Chapel at Temple Sholom in Pompano Beach, was filled to capacity (72 seats) with many members from local S. Florida groups, P.A.N.D.O.R.A.'s directors and members, some of our benefactors, as well as members of the temple's congregation and the general public.

P.A.N.D.O.R.A. is extremely grateful and appreciative of the following individuals who helped make this event a HUGE success!

Richard Berger - Executive Director, Temple Sholom,

Heidi Shafran - President, Temple Sholom Sisterhood

Rabbi Ivan Wachmann - Senior Rabbi, Temple Sholom

Cookie Miller - Facilitator, CFS/FM Empowerment Group at Temple Sholom, P.A.N.D.O.R.A. 2007 Advocate Extraordinaire!©

Yvette Campos - Editor, Board of Directors, P.A.N.D.O.R.A., 2007 Advocate Extraordinaire!©

And last, we are extremely grateful to Dr. Tara Solomon, who took the time from her very busy schedule to present one of the most educational and scientific up-to-date topics that touched on the relationship of hormonal balance, inflammation, anti-aging, stamina, sleep patterns, cancer, heart disease and much more!

If you missed this opportunity, we are already scheduling another lectur with Dr. Solomon for 2008. You will not want to miss that one!

Guest speaker: Tara Solomon, MD    Tara Solomon

Topic: "Life in the Flash Lane" - Adrenal Support and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Location: Temple Sholom, 132 S.E. 11th Avenue, Pompano Beach, Florida

Phone: 954-942-6410, e-mail RSVP or register online

Time: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Bring your husband, family members or a friend to this event. Adrenal Support and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a medical issue that needs to be addressed for individuals with CFS,FM and related neuroendocrineimmune disorders.

Dr. Solomon is respected oby-gynecologist in South Florida. She has appeared in national and local television shows discussing women's health and issues.  She is working on a book in order to educate women about Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, perimenopause and what menopause means to our bodies.

Perimenopause and Menopause processes can start in women as early as mid thirties and as late as mid fifties. Women with neuroendocrineimmune disorders already experience major health challenges related to sleep, mood, fatigue, weight gain and overall wellness before menopause and these areas become even more difficult to balance during the process of reaching menopause.

By attending this awareness event you will learn how to deal with menopause and the pros and cons of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Dr. Solomon will also be able to answer your questions on postmenopausal issues.

This is a meeting that all women of all ages can attend. It is not only for CFS/FM/GW/MCS and related illnesses individuals. It is a topic that all women share as they reach this stage in their lives. It is an educational meeting that you can bring a husband or significant other, girl friends, a mother or a sister, and enjoy a speaker who is witty and will answer your questions on how to live "in the Flash Lane".

Temple Sholom Sisterhood is organizing a wonderful event for its members and for P.A.N.D.O.R.A. members as well. You will not want miss this one!  Please e-mail your R.S.V.P, by phone at 954-942-6410, and let us know how many in your party.  If you need a ride please let us know as we will try to connect you with someone who lives near you and is able to give you a ride. If you want to speak with someone from P.A.N.D.O.R.A. please call our volunteer help line at 954-783-6771.
