Coral Gables, Florida, January 25, 2007 -  On Friday, January 26, 2007, on Channel 10, WPLG, the local South Florida ABC Affiliate, at their morning news broadcast at 6:20 am and again at the 12 to 1:00 pm news broadcast, a story will run on CFS.
 
Local award wining medical reporter and anchor  Kristi Krueger (see "Kristi's Good Health Segments") interviewed  Marly Silverman, the founder of P.A.N.D.O.R.A. and a CFS survivor,  and  Dr. Nancy Klimas, a leading chronic fatigue syndrome researcher (CFS) and director of the CFS Clinic located at the University of Miami- VA Hospital in downtown Miami. Dr. Klimas is a professor of immunology at the University of Miami and is the current President of the International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (IACFS), a professional organization comprised of scientific researchers, clinicians and concerned individuals on issues related to CFS and related illnesses.  
 
The highlights of the interview include a personal patient outlook and the latest scientific breakthroughs which were  presented at the 8th IACFS Conference held recently in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 
 
The event,  which held a record number of conferees (739) and a record number of scientific abstracts (150),  gathered researchers, clinicians, physicians, patients and caregivers from 21 countries in sunny South Florida to learn, present and exchange information on some breakthrough and scientific advancements on CFS, which is also known in Europe and in Canada as M.E. (myalgic encephalomyelitis or encephalopathy).  The event was co-sponsored by P.A.N.D.O.R.A. and by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).   
 
During the 2-day patient conference,  national and international advocates participated in the Advocates Extraordinaire unique training program made possible by the generous sponsorship of Mr. Marc Iverson, Coastal Construction Group, Purdue Pharma,L.P. ,  Pro-Health, Inc., Mr. Rich Carson, The HHV-6 Foundation, Inc, The CFIDS Association of America, Inc.,  Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Silverman, Bioenergy Life Science, Inc., Frankel & Newfield, P.C., Mr. & Mrs. Schinder, Haworth Press, Dr. Bernard Burton, and Gazzatex.
 
The 5 day event was the catalyst for patient advocates, researchers, clinicians and treating physicians from all corners of the world, united in finding a cure for CFS, FM and related illnesses. P.A.N.D.O.R.A. is proud of its role in facilitating this outstanding event.

The current issue of Miami Living Magazine  contains an article written by staff writer, Marla Schwartz,  highlighting Dr. Nancy Klimas outstanding contribution to the field of scientific research on CFS and Gulf War Syndrome.
