P.A.N.D.O.R.A., Inc- Patient Alliance for Neuroendocrineimmune Disorders Organization for Research & Advocacy Announces
Fibromyalgia advocate from Minnesota wins a scholarship to attend the upcoming F.A.C.E.S. Conference in Chicago, Illinois.
Coral Gables, Florida, May 12, 2007 - We are pleased to announce that Margaret (Marty) White, pictured on the right, attended the May 18-20, 2007 Fibromyalgia Association Created for Education and Self-Help (F.A.C.E.S.) conference in Chicago, Illinois. White was recently featured on 4/11/207 by the Minnesota-Spokesman Recorder reporter Felicia Schultz - Local Woman Fights for Fibromyalgia Awareness.
Dominie Bush, who runs a very positive and informative newsletter on fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome. and related illnesses, posted the link to this article in her April newsletter. White was quoted in the article that "she had not met another African-American individual with fibromyalgia." When Marly Silverman read the article, she knew that White had to meet Sabrina Johnson, the president of F.A.C.E.S. Johnson is an African-American woman and a former police officer. So P.A.N.D.O.R.A. invited White to attend the F.A.C.E.S.'conference under the Sand Castles Scholarship Award and to represent P.A.N.D.O.R.A. as one of the 2007 Advocate Extraordinaire and as a member of its African-American Outreach Committee.
White was thrilled to meet Johnson, who is also a member of P.A.N.D.O.R.A.'s board of directors and chair of our African-American Outreach Committee. "I learned a lot and met many wonderful people. Sabrina did a stellar job of organizing the conference! The amount of work and energy that she put into it is astounding!! Many of us would have given up a long time ago. She deserves many kudos for all her hard work and perseverance. It was a major success for all of us who attended." shared White in her recent thank you letter to P.A.N.D.O.R.A.
