Arrests made following east Toronto jewelry store robbery, two suspects pending


Two individuals are in custody following an armed robbery at an east Toronto jewelry store last month, but police say two other suspects remain at large.

In a Press release Released Monday, police said on Feb. 24, officers responded to a report of theft at a retail store in the Gerrard Street East and Coxwell Avenue area of ​​the city’s Upper Beaches neighborhood.

Investigators believe a masked man was allowed into the store. Once inside, he reportedly pulled out a handgun and ordered the employee to the floor.

The suspect then opened the door to the jewelry store and let in two other men. The men took what police describe as a significant amount of jewelry and placed it in bags they had brought with them before fleeing the scene.

An investigation by the department’s hold-up team began following the incident and officers were able to identify one of the men allegedly involved.

On March 3, officers located the man traveling in a vehicle. He was arrested, arrested and found in possession of a loaded handgun and a quantity of cocaine, police said.

The passenger in the vehicle was also arrested.

Jahsyah Thomas, 19, of Brampton, is charged with robbery with a firearm, intentional disguise, unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm and several other offences.

Richard Longrin, 25, of Vaughan, is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

Thomas and Longrin were due to appear in court on March 4.
