Come Together: Jewelry brand founder Michael Saiger on his latest collaboration with style savant Everett Williams

Men’s jewelry is on the rise. And one of the biggest players in the space is Michael Saiger, the founder of Miansai, a global brand known for its elevated vision of everyday jewelry. Here, Saiger discusses future Miansai innovations, including working with Everett Williams, one of today’s most creative souls, to deliver a fresh and reinvented perspective on jewelry design.

What’s new for Miansai?
Over the past 14 years we have been able to create a strong jewelry brand based on our minimalist approach to accessories. Now it’s time to keep pushing the boundaries and invite other style icons to collaborate with us. It gives us the opportunity to break out of our typical Miansai box and welcome new ideas from like-minded creatives. On the horizon, a collaboration with Everett Williams, an icon of style and multiple hyphens based in Los Angeles.

Tell us about your past collaborations.
We’ve been fortunate to partner with some of the most innovative brands in the industry including Mr. Porter, J.crew, FILA and many more. With FILA, we felt honored to work with them as they chose us to be the sneaker company’s first-ever collaboration with a jewelry brand. We’ve produced two limited-edition silhouettes, which combine FILA’s sporting heritage with our subtle yet elevated aesthetic. On one shoe, we placed our best-selling silver screw-on cuff on its back heel counter and on the other shoe, its laces were inspired by our signature rope bracelets.

How did your collaboration with style icon Everett Williams come about?
It happened in, of all places, in Puerto Rico. My wife, Rachael, has been a good friend of Everett for several years and she invited him to visit us at our home in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Around great cocktails and tropical decor, we felt it was the right time to bring our creative energies together to create a collaborative collection.

Why is Everett a good fit for your brand?
Everett has created some of today’s most viewed digital fashion content. He has collaborated with brands such as Levi’s, Shiseido, Mugler, Tiffany & Co., Farfetch and Calvin Klein. His approach to modern aesthetics is both thought-provoking and whimsical. Every time I look at his work, I come away with a smile, something I wanted to bring to the bearer of Miansai.

What can we expect with Miansai x Everett Williams?
The collection will be released in April 2023, a perfect season because in classic Everett style, he’s given us license to be more eccentric and whimsical. She will offer a selection of necklaces, rings and earrings, all with a lot of kitsch. The look will still be decidedly Miansai with our signature minimalist accent, but thanks to Everett we’ll be introducing more pops of color, including green stones, and small counter-culture touches.

What did you learn along the way?
That a collaborative spirit can bring new ideas that truly push all creators to a new level. The energy we have when we feed off each other is contagious, and it leaves me searching for the next wave of collaborations that can continue to push my design boundaries.
