According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, a man broke into the Gold Silver Guy store on Townsite Road and stole several jewelry and other small items just after 5:30 a.m. on August 10.
The owner called the police after finding a small window on the south side of the property open, and although the store’s alarm was armed, it did not go off. After reviewing the security footage, police noticed that a suspect had picked up several coins, $ 2 bills and an antique scale. The suspect failed to break another window and left. The owner told police that two other men, their faces partially covered, were seen outside the business lighting flashlights an hour before the break-in, the statement said. hurry.
The suspect is described as in his early twenties with short hair. He wore a loose jacket with lettering on the sleeves and a small flashlight.
“The suspect was extremely thin because the window through which he entered was only 12 inches wide,” the statement noted.
