A downtown jewelry store is broken into

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the alarm at Mesa Jewelers in downtown Grand Junction went off around 7:30 a.m. Monday morning, but the thief fled. The damage and loss of stolen goods were estimated to be over $ 50,000.

This is how the burglary unfolded

It seems the suspect acted alone. Grand Junction police say they believe the thief broke through the front door first to see if the alarm would sound. They say he left the scene, changed his clothes, and then came back later to finish the job.

Often times, surveillance camera photos are grainy or blurry and don’t do much to identify suspects. In this case, the police have at least one very good photo of the suspect that should help identify him and put him behind bars.

Looking at the photos it looks like two different people, however police believe the two photos are of the same person and are only looking for a single suspect.
