The name Pasquale Bruni is known around the world, thanks to her precious and luxurious jewelry, but for Creative Director Eugenia Bruni, the emphasis is always on the innate radiance of the woman who wears the creations. Following in her father’s footsteps, who founded the famous pioneering brand in Valenza, Italy at just 20 years old, her mission is to make women feel empowered and special when they proudly wear their favorite piece. Here’s how she does it!
Tell us the story of the brand!
We are a 50 year old Italian family business founded by my father, Pasquale, who was a pioneer in the world of jewelry. He started the brand from scratch, with the goal of creating a new kind of costume jewelry. Our workshop is and always has been in Valenza, the city of gold.
What did you learn from the family business?
I learned the attention to detail and the courage it takes to develop a brand. And how to create jewelry in a new and meaningful way. My brother Daniele and I started working in the factory when we were very young. I fell in love with it – the handmade process, the technical side, the experimentation – when I was a kid. Until 2001, the brand was under the management of Pasquale. He helped me teach myself, but taught me how important it is to see all aspects and have a complete view of mine.
What does your current involvement look like?
We’re still a family business, so Daniele takes care of the US market. What I’m trying to do is create a jewelry brand of passion and experience. I want to create jewelry that empowers women. I am in the factory every day. Maybe it’s because since I was a kid, it’s the place that I really love the most. The workshop makes me so happy. I feel that through my jewelry, I can leave something for all women. Right now my goal is to question my design. I think we need it more than ever right now: to create beauty for women.
How do you do this?
I study the anatomy of jewelry, as I study the anatomy of the body and of nature. Nature is something that reconnects women with themselves. That is why it is important to spend a lot of time in the workshop. I am obsessed with form, light and making jewelry intimate. I want a woman to feel empowered while wearing the jewelry, but even when we have power, we don’t forget about our female parts. I want a woman to blossom every day and reconnect with all of her facets while feeling unique.
How does it feel to see people wearing Pasquale Bruni?
It is moving! Everytime! For me, the important thing is when I see someone wearing the design and I see their actions, their attitude, their confidence. The approach of our jewelry is that people love themselves through this light and love others. When a client walks up to me and talks to me, it’s nice to hear that they feel something special while wearing a piece.
What do you think the brand has become known for?
Our signature is a unique paving stone. It’s contemporary and full of emotion. People also know us for the way you can wear pieces from the Aleluiá, AMA and Goddess Garden collections as a choker or bracelet; they or they [represent] the many facets of a woman with all the different ways she can wear them.
Do you have a particular favorite piece that you always wear?
I always wear something made of rose quartz. It is a stone of love, and love is the main reason for being in this world! The Goddess Garden collection is all about leaves. When I wear these pieces, I feel the power and energy of a tree, and I feel the light.
Aleluiá bracelet in 18k rose gold with diamonds (below), $ 28,000; Goddess Garden earrings in 18k white gold with white diamonds (right), $ 26,800. Both available on pasqualebruni.com
What are you currently working on?
The moon is a big influence, and the ocean. These are two important elements for connecting with a woman’s emotions and femininity. I’m working on some new research, so you’ll see that next year. It’s going to be mysterious, with a lot of craftsmanship in the collection, and I’m delighted!
What’s your favorite thing about vacations?
Christmas is a holiday of high spiritual energy. I feel like Christmas, we connect to each other through the light in our hearts, and it’s an inspiring time for me. In Italy, we spend the day with the family and we get together. There are also a lot of animals, usually more animals than humans! I also always do a yoga retreat because it’s important to reconnect. I am taking a few days to meditate and do yoga, so that I can have beautiful new energy for the coming year.
What is your biggest dream for the brand?
I am a person who lives a lot in the present; I try to give everything I have in the present tense. If you give it your all, things turn to gold. For me, it’s about spreading that love and emotion, being connected and having gratitude. What I want is that we continue to do it and do it ethically.
