Jewelry store owner says suspects stole 300,000 worth of merchandise – CBS Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Two armed suspects robbed a jewelry store in South Sacramento on Friday afternoon. The store owner tells CBS13 the suspects got away with about $300,000 worth of merchandise.

The owner, uncomfortable sharing the store’s name or showing his face, fearing for his safety and fearing the suspects may return.

The brazen burglary happened in broad daylight.

Police can be heard on the radio scanner saying, “They were armed with guns and took $300,000 from the business. The suspects are two adult Caucasian males.

In video obtained by CBS13, two hooded and masked men can be seen entering a South Sacramento jewelry store on Florin Road.

First, the suspects look around the store for a minute, then they each pull a gun on the owner, backing him and his wife into a corner before clearing the jewelry cases.

The suspects eventually leave – with everything.

“That’s 2-300,000,000 worth of goods,” says Mohammad Mallick, who owns a store nearby and says a crime like this could be devastating for small business.

“You basically go broke when things like this happen,” says Mallick.

The crime was sad but not surprising for the neighbors.

“It’s happened here before,” says Janine Acebedo, who works alone in a cell phone store.

“This door was completely broken, there is still glass on the floor. A week before that, they broke that window,” says Acebedo.

The jewelry store owner asked our CBS13 team to release the surveillance video in the hope that someone recognizes the suspects and brings them to justice.

The owner and his wife told CBS13 they believe one of the suspects was inside the jewelry store earlier in the day and then returned to rob them.
