Shooting in Pierce County leaves two injured
Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies said a child and a man were injured in a shooting that occurred around 1:30 a.m. this morning in the area of South 98th Street and South Ainsworth Street.
Deputies and Tacoma police found a wrecked vehicle on South 98th Street with an injured man inside.
Deputies were aware of other shootings at a home in 97th Street Court South on Sunday and Monday mornings. They investigated the scene and found over 80 shell casings in the street.
Deputies said the victim was shot in the vehicle and had a gun in the front seat.
According to deputies, a house on the corner of 98th Street South and Ainsworth Avenue South was hit by gunfire at least 30 times. A bullet grazed a 12-year-old girl inside the house. She was treated by doctors and stayed at home. Her grandmother says she woke up with a ball sitting next to her arm in bed.
Deputies believe the man in the car may have shot people loitering in the street, and they fired back. The people in the street left the scene. No suspects are in custody and the investigation is continuing.
If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
