The high jewelry brand launches its first collection of delicate power pieces

Nine Golden Swans launched its first fine jewelry collection, Nights in Shining Armour, in the summer of 2021. The line features a dozen delicate power pieces – little treasures that deliver dazzling impact.

“I wanted to create a line of fine jewelry for everyday wear that flirts with the past and feels right for the present,” said the brand’s founder and designer, Jessica Barker. “The collection is inspired by the noble art of heraldry, where shields and the symbols they bear contribute to a sense of identity, protection and courage – and it is a reflection of the intoxicating feeling to dance under the stars.”

The Nights in Shining Armor collection includes recycled 14k yellow gold pieces, lab-grown diamonds, green moissanites and Montana sapphires. Jewelry is packaged in eco-friendly materials like recycled and recyclable cardboard to help minimize post-consumer waste.

“With our first collection, we join a movement of conscious creators and consumers who aim to celebrate beauty without harming or supporting unethical practices, and we are constantly learning and striving to improve our process as we’re growing,” Barker said.

Barker launched Nine Golden Swans in early 2020, rapidly evolving it from a jewelry blog to an online source for vintage jewelry amid the pandemic. It wasn’t long before she returned to her design roots and began developing the brand’s first collection in fall 2020.

The Nights in Shining Armor collection is bold and strong in style, yet delicate and delightfully tactile when worn. Each original design begins life in Chicago’s historic Jewelers Row and travels to New York’s iconic Diamond District where it is handcrafted by master jewelers. Necklace and earring styles include the Diamond Dust Shield Pendant, Absinthe Pendant, Disco Chain, and Starlet Hoop Charms.

“Look closely and you’ll find inspiration in my studies of English heritage and design history. I love dusting off timeless patterns, playing with movement and light, and injecting feel-good vibes into jewelry refined,” Barker said. “I hope these are pieces you feel good in – and materials you feel good in – for years to come.”

In addition to the collection launch, the summer marked another exciting change for the company: Barker moved from Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood to Geneva, Illinois in July. “I am delighted to live in Geneva and be part of its dynamic business community,” she added.
