“After entering the store and smashing the windows, the three suspects ran out of the store with a large amount of jewelry to a waiting car,” Nelson said.

The sergeant noted that there had been an initial report of gunshots, but police later determined it was the sound of breaking glass.

Investigators told Eyewitness News that three suspects wearing balaclavas and ski masks robbed the jewelry store using hammers. They said they left and jumped into a waiting vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

Officers were at the mall to investigate as crime scene tape blocked off the jewelry store.

The sound of breaking glass caused panic among buyers. Witnesses say people fled the mall and others sought refuge in nearby shops.
